Meet the Founder

Demetra “Dee” Marsh serves as the Executive Director of Amongst Friends, a provider of home and community-based services located in the Charlotte Metropolitan Area.
A native of Bassett, Virginia, Dee received her education through the Henry County School System. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina. Additionally, she completed the CMS Teaching Residency EC Adapted Curriculum Program. Before founding Amongst Friends, Dee gained valuable experience working with various agencies that support both youth and adults facing intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as mental health challenges.
For the past eight years, she has been actively involved in the exceptional children’s program, serving as a long-term substitute and currently as an EC – Extensions teacher in both middle and high school settings.
For Dee, her role transcends mere employment or a career; it represents a profound opportunity to fulfill her life's purpose by positively impacting the lives of others and empowering them to realize their full potential.
